The Murray Bank Receives Rudy J Ellis Distinguished Service Award
Murray, KY – Throughout Jim Bauer’s years as Athletic Director at Murray High School, he has consistently heard these words from The Murray Bank, “We’d be happy to help you out with that.”
“The Murray Bank has been a great partner for our parents, players and coaches from their start,” Bauer said. “The entire team at The Murray Bank provides so much more than just sponsorships; they provide support for our entire school system in so many different ways.”
That’s why Bauer nominated The Murray Bank for the prestigious Dr. Rudy J. Ellis Distinguished Service Award, which The Murray Bank received April 26 at the 2018 Kentucky High School Athletic Directors Association awards ceremony held in Louisville, KY.
The award is presented to the individual, group or business outside the field of athletic administration in recognition of their service to interscholastic athletics. Since the 1993 inception of the honor, which includes multiple recipients every year, there have been four recipients from Murray garner the accolade — Murray Calloway County Hospital, Sirloin Stockade, David Taylor, and now The Murray Bank.
“Our commitment to providing top quality services to our community is a value The Murray Bank was built on, and being recognized by one of our partners is humbling and appreciated,” said Bob Hargrove, President and CEO of The Murray Bank. “The partnerships we have with both of our local school systems are great examples of our commitment to enhancing our community.”
The Murray Bank provides many benefits to Murray Independent School District (MISD), one of which is their Spirit Debit Cards. These cards offer Tiger fans a unique way to display school spirit; making a donation to MISD every time someone swipes their Spirit Debit Card. Through this program alone, The Murray Bank has donated nearly $60,000 to the MISD since 2010.
The KHSADA award is named after Ellis, a pioneer in sports medicine in Louisville and throughout the Commonwealth. He devoted his life to helping all athletes overcome injuries. He was the first doctor in Kentucky to offer free sports medicine physicals to all athletes.
“The Murray Bank is always looking for ways to stay in communication and be available to our community,” Bauer said. “There is no other service like The Murray Bank.”
